Ostrander State of Emergency

To the Residents of the Village of Ostrander:

On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, Governor Mike DeWine declared a State of Emergency in response to worldwide outbreak of the corona virus known as COVID-19 for the State of Ohio. The Governor has and is continuing to take actions to reduce the spread of this disease.
On Friday, March 13, 2020, the President of the United States declared a National Emergency concerning the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak. Read the full declaration here https://bit.ly/3a8l5Be
On Thursday, March 19, 2020, I, as Mayor, declare a State of Emergency for the Village of Ostrander in an effort to address the COVID-19 public health emergency.
To address this emergency, effective immediately, the following measures will be taken by the Village:
  1. The Ostrander Village Office, 19 S. Main Street, will not be open to the public. Village staff can be best reached by calling the individual member or by email. The list of Village staff phone numbers and email can be found by following this link: www.ostranderohio.us/council
  2. Utility payments can still be made by mailing in your payment or by using the drop box at the BANC. If you are having difficulty paying your utility bill as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, please contact the Village Fiscal Officer.
  3. We are looking into holding the Village’s regularly scheduled meetings online in a virtual meeting space. We are researching the details and will provide that information soon.
In addition, these measures are necessary to protect not only the general public, but the health of the Village staff who will need to continue to provide public services during these difficult times.
As your Mayor, I urge all residents to follow the directions of our Federal, State, and Local health officials in procedures to reduce the spread of this dangerous virus. Again, I urge you to get your news from trusted sources, which may not include social media in many cases. Also, please look out for your neighbors and the elderly, in particular. As warranted, additional measures may be taken until the threat from this virus has subsided. Please continue to visit our website at www.ostranderohio.us for updates.

Stay safe. Stay healthy. Help your neighbors.
